Despite the COVID-19 global pandemic, (TAWOMA) Tanzania Women Miners Association is beating all odds at this time of economic downturn and opened a gemstone value addition and jewelry shop at their Upanga offices in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.
Last year Tawoma received adequate training in Gem Identification and value addition from GIA in partnership with PACT. The Association has also collaborated with Anza gems and Ninteen48 through Moyo Gems to enable the gemstone women miners to be able to access international buyers and market their gemstones.
Last month, Tawoma exhibited fine gemstones at the First International Conference on Investment in the Mining Industry of Tanzania.
A team from PactTanzania was present at the official opening of the store.
Here are some photos of the opening event.
