What you need to know about ‘Insofu’ Emerald

It was extracted at the famous Kagem Mine in the year 2010 by Gemfields

It is the largest known emerald extracted from Africa

The gem weighs at 6100 carats (or 1220 grams/1.22kgs)

Insofu means “elephant” in the vernacular of the Bemba people of Zambia.

The gem was sold to DiaColor in October 2010 at an Auction in Lusaka, Zambia
The acquisition cost of the Insofu emerald has never been disclosed
